The BIGGEST challenge for 90% Coaches, Consultants and Freelancers is getting new clients

Dear Coach, Consultant or Freelancer,

/// The BIGGEST challenge for 90% Coaches, Consultants and Freelancers is getting new clients ///

Yep, you read that right.

Every business owner out there is struggling to grow their business.

They think the only way to grow their business is by getting more clients.

But 90% of the client/service business owners out there are flat out marketing all the time.

And it just isn’t working for them.

Janet set up a graphic design business after completing her uni degree.

All her friends are getting jobs, and her mum tells her to charge £20/hr.

Janet looks at the competition and they’re all charging £40/hr but she’s just started out so she settles on £25/hr.

What Janet didn’t take into consideration is that her “competition” are actually struggling to get clients and even at £40/hr ends don’t always meet.

Transpired that at £50, £60 and even £80/hr a thriving successful graphic design agency it doth not make.

Janet didn't consider:

- How much new clients cost to acquire

- How much time new clients take to service

- How many resources are needed to deliver her service to each client in her business

And if Janet hasn’t done that then how does she know how much to charge for the work she does?

In fact the problem started much earlier on in her business.

Nobody taught Janet about getting clients at Uni, let alone how to price her amazing graphic design services, or how to get leads and build a thriving agency.

So, why doesn’t it work?!

Janet does all the things; networking, even working for free to get the big clients interested, boosting posts sucks and it’s a race to the bottom in the Facebook groups Janet’s friends told her to join.

Everyone on this planet is a graphic designer.

Best get a job.

The problem isn’t getting clients though.

What, Robin?!

Yeah.

The product sucks and you’ve priced it all wrong, Janet.

I mean your design is great, but you're selling it all wrong. You’re selling hours of your time when your clients are creaming all the profits from the enquiries which the leaflets you designed are getting them.

Right, enough of this terrible analogy.

I’ll give you another one instead.

Janet’s product is a bit like the engine in an old Fiat 500.

Sales and marketing is like rocket fuel.

Now imagine what happens when you add rocket fuel to a Fiat 500 engine. It goes as fast as it can for about 8.56 seconds, and then...

???? EXPLODES ????

Add rocket fuel to the right product...i.e. a rocket and it goes into outer space.

The short version of this story is...

Build a product that creates results...sorry, creates one VERY SPECIFIC RESULT for your clients + Price it accordingly + Learn how to sell it.

Hey presto.

No more marketing woes, because you’ll have a brilliant business.

Thanks for sharing this Robin Waite! Solid lead flow is not a permanent thing and marketing strategies need to be changed all the time. I witnessed companies having a great lead flow for few months and then everything stops all of a sudden.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing your insights Robin Waite! But you claim that the biggest challenge for 90% Coaches, Consultants and Freelancers is getting new clients. How did you measure that? Is there any particular primary source that tells the same?
