The biggest breath research event worldwide returns!

The biggest breath research event worldwide returns!

Welcome to a special edition of our newsletter, giving you the latest updates on our annual conference.

We cannot believe this is our seventh year of hosting the Breath Biopsy Conference and we are super excited to bring you two full days of the latest news, views, and advancements in the breath research field. Once again, the conference will be held online to allow everyone to join us from across the globe. The sessions will be recorded and sent to those who have signed up, so even if you are not able to join live, do register so you are the first to receive them. Our registration remains free to all attendees.

Abstracts being accepted

The deadline for our main sessions has closed, but we still invite those who want to present at our Early Careers and Poster sessions to submit their work. We introduced our Early Careers session in 2020, after feedback from attendees, and it has remained popular on the programme since. Accepted speakers will have a 15-minute presentation slot during the conference to present their latest work. This session is open to those eight years of the award of their PhD or other professional training.

Each year our Poster session grows, and we are hoping that this year will be no different! A selection of posters will be invited to give a 5-minute presentation of their work and all posters will be displayed on our website during and after the event. All accepted posters are also eligible for our annual poster prize, with the winner announced during the event. You can check out the 2023 posters via our website.

If you would like to present in the Early Career or Poster session, you can submit your abstract here.

Programme highlights

This year’s Plenary Talk is from Dr. Oleg Schelochov, Director of Medical Genetics at the National Human Genome Research Institute. Dr. Schelochkov’s clinical research is focused on understanding the natural history of and novel therapeutic approaches to metabolic disorders and during the event he will be presenting his work on, ‘Breath Biopsy in Inborn Errors of Metabolism: A Proof of Principle Study in Propionic Acidemia.’

We are also looking forward to presentations from Prof. Teny John from M D Anderson, and Dr. Daniela Polag from the University of Heidelberg.

The programme also features an intriguing session, titled ‘Standardization in Breath Analysis and Building a VOC Atlas’ from members of the US Food and Drug Administration, who will be joined by a member of the Owlstone Medical team and Dr. Kavita Jeerage from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Our expert panel will once again conclude the event, the topic will be revealed soon – make sure you are following us on our social channels to be the first to learn more.
