Hi it’s me Al. Welcome to this issue of The Speakeasy.
Out of 10, what would you score the film Top Gun: Maverick?
Haven’t seen it? Where have you been? It’s an absolute banger.
I was blown away.
The last time I was that blown away I was on the set of a Ridley Scott series, literally being ‘blown away’ by enemy gunfire. True story. The series was called Raised by Wolves. I ‘died’ immediately.
You know what the coolest thing about Top Gun: Maverick is, though?
It made people leave their homes and go to the cinema. In record numbers. (It’s turning out to be one of the highest grossing blockbuster films ever!). In the age of streaming, that is quite incredible!
Why? Because it hooks you in from the beginning and never lets go. It just gets BETTER and BETTER. I’m getting goosies just remembering some of the scenes.
What am I getting at?
If a movie about aeroplanes can still make people go to the cinema, then you can make people ‘leave their homes’ (i.e. snap out of their fog state, forget any distractions) and engage with your presentation like cinema goers.
If your shit slaps, then people will do what they need to, to see, hear or read it. Period.
Best part about it? You can do it by using the same method that made Top Gun: Maverick such a banger - thinking like a filmmaker. You need to turn your presentation or pitch into a blockbuster.
Can you answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions?
●?????When I present do I sometimes I see people on their phones?
●?????At the end of my presentation are there always very few, or no, engaging questions from my listeners?
●?????People seem to show interest in my product when I present it, but then I don’t hear from them again.
Then your presentation needs to go on a Top Gun style bootcamp.

Take your presentation to boot camp
Just like the navy officers in Top Gun you can put your presentation through a boot camp. Creating powerful, attention-grabbing presentations and pitches is a skill that can be honed. The weapons you need are rooted in the fundamentals of psychology and entertainment.
I’m launching a 3-week SaaS Sales Presentation bootcamp that will give you these weapons.
What you’ll learn:
In 3 x 90 minute workshops + bonus workshop, you will learn, practise and network with the best to solve these problems:
●?????Learn how to fire up the limbic brain to grab an audience’s attention
●?????Use Freud’s pleasure principle to set an agenda that addresses pains and gains
●?????Integrate Daniel Kahneman’s prospect theory to make problems bigger
●?????Power your voice and body language to keep an audience engaged
●?????Sell with story with a dominant selling idea to keep prospects glued
Oh and there’ll be a bit of fun too (it’s topless beach volleyball at sunset)
At the end of the course, we’ll host a little show that I’m calling "Preso Idol" where students present to each other and give each other feedback.
