You may have seen the news that third-party custom invite service, Discord.io, recently suffered a data breach that exposed the sensitive information of more than 760,000 users.?
The breach was discovered on August 14, after a database containing the personal information of Discord.io users was put up for sale on the dark web. The hacker, who uses the alias ‘Akhirah', shared four user records from the database as proof of the data’s authenticity.?
It was revealed during an investigation into the cyber attack that the hacker gained access to Disocrd.io’s database via a vulnerability in the website’s code. This allowed Akhirah to download Discord’io’s entire database and put it up for sale on the new version of infamous hacking site, Breached Forums.?

Hacker attempts to sell data of 500 million WhatsApp users on dark web
On November 16, 2022, a hacker posted a dataset to dark web forum containing what they claimed to be up-to-date personal information of 487 million WhatsApp users from 84 countries. In the post, the alleged hacker said those who bought the datasets would receive “very recent mobile numbers” of WhatsApp users. Discover more about the alleged data breach here.

X accused of covering up data breach that affects millions
