Bigbon Group joins Inditex in its efforts to eliminate single-use plastics from customer sales

The Fight Against Single-Use Plastic?

To address the environmental challenges that single-use plastics continue to pose globally, Inditex has set a clear target to eliminate their use from customer sales ?by the end 2025 and simultaneously promote the adoption of reusable paper bags, encouraging customers to opt for more sustainable alternatives.

One of the businesses that has embraced the responsibility to reduce their ecological footprint and adopted this strategy is Bigbon Group, a leading fashion retailer with operations in Malta. The introduction of sustainably certified paper bags and charging customers for these has proved to be a successful strategy in eliminating plastic to encourage ?consumers to bring and reuse their own bags. In addition, this has ?also helped raise awareness about the importance of sustainable practices by businesses, and sustainable consumption by its customers. During the time that this initiative has rolled out, Bigbon Group has empowered its customers to become active participants in waste reduction and cultivating a greener future.

As part of this initiative, Bigbon Group has committed to donating the proceeds from the sales of the paper bag to WWF – the global conservation organisation – in support of its ?nature and wildlife restoration and regeneration projects. Also, Bigbon Group believes this initiative will also help contribute towards ?the environmental and societal goals ?set in the Fit for 55 by 2030 policy.? Additionally, Inditex has implemented initiatives within its stores to collect hangers and tags, aiming to reuse or repurpose them, reducing waste and promoting circularity in their operations. Through these efforts, Inditex strives to create a more sustainable and responsible retail industry.

Building a Legacy of Sustainability:

In addition to the eco-bag campaign, Inditex is actively engaged in two other noteworthy environmental initiatives.

1.???? Zero-waste: The company has implemented an internal strategy across all its stores to effectively manage the disposal of cardboard and plastic waste, aiming to minimise environmental impact and promote responsible waste management practices.

2.???? Green-energy: Inditex has set a commendable goal of ensuring that 100% of its energy purchases in all its stores are from renewable sources by the end of 2023. ?
