How to align things with your purpose.
Hi, my name is Mark. I’ve recently set up my Substack to share:
??????? Insight, opinion & tips from c40 years of my practical know-how from Change to Transformation.
?????? It’s for people who want to change / improve themselves / turn their ideas & vision into reality within work.
This abbreviated LinkedIn version is published in full on Substack.

What’s this post about?
Last time I said I might talk either about why I’m publishing on Substack or maybe about change approach choices. I’ve picked Why I’m publishing on Substack. Change approaches will have to wait ??.
So, this is all about:
Why I’m doing what I am doing using Substack.
And/or putting it another way, some insights into:
How to align things with your purpose.
Maybe you’ll find something that resonates?
What’s my situation and my purpose?
Having recently retired I am going to focus on the things that are important in life, as, sadly we all know, life’s too short, right?
But I do have a little more time to “give something back”, and I am motivated to do so. Keeping “me going” is a thing too.
Writing Change is constant?is part of that. And if that’s all I do then – happy days. If that evolves into paid subscriptions, or some part-time advisory or NED roles, happy days too!
My previous Change is constant - Times they are a changin’ – covered the above / more in somewhat greater detail. If you want to check that out, there’s also link at the bottom.
In it I noted – retiring and starting Change is constant is a big change for me.
And when considering any Change, big or small, it’s important to -
?? ? Know (or work out) what’s your why.
?? ? Recognise / understand where you are starting from.
Or put another way:
?? ? If you don’t know what you’re trying to do, why you’re trying to do it, where you are now / where you’ve come from – what chance of success do you really have?
And:
?? ? It helps to write things down and discuss them with those involved or who can help. Two heads are usually better than one!
Why am I telling you about why I’m using Substack?
Is it because that’s what others seem to be early on in their Substack publishing? Well, maybe ?? ??.
Is it because there’s a Change is constant related message that I would like to get across?
?? Well yes – that’s mostly why.
I do like a good story. Not that I’m saying this is mind! But maybe it’ll draw you in? I’m using my initial Substack journey as a story, to perhaps make people think a bit about the Change they are considering and how they get to their answers?
This LinkedIn version is abbreviated here, if you want to read more, it is published in full on Substack.
What’s on the cards for next time?
There’s a few topics that have come to light in writing this. Prioritisation; Why linked to Purpose; How linked to What & When; Requirements linked to Outcomes, Clarity linked to Actions; and as per previous post, some change approach choices.
Next time I might talk about any of those, or it might be something else. I am doing this for me remember! One way or another hopefully you’ll find something that resonates though ??.
What was in the last post?

3 个月For clarity I’m not going to put the The few ideas signposted above on the back burner. Because you should NEVER put anything on the back burner. They remain a degree of priority! They were. 3 个月Ok I’ve decided… the things I’ve signposted within that I might talk about… I’m not going to ! The working title for my next newsletter is “what’s the story, morning glory”. Which is going to be about starting change (tho my example will be a personal change) and the change structures/ approaches / mechanisms one could adopt to get what you want… eventually ?? it’ll be published on https://changeisconstant.substack.com first, then here on LinkedIn a week or two later. ?? #change #helpingothers
