BIG thinking…

BIG thinking…

You hear me say this a lot and this will be a common theme for next year, so what do I mean? To visualise and dream without limitations, to use all of the life experience you have and tap into the creative side of your brain to see what you come up with. To give something perspective by stepping away from what you have always known.

Stepping outside of that comfort zone is a scary thing, it brings immediate anxiety and forces us to first think about all the things that can go wrong.

In taking any risk you need to first be prepared for it not to be right first time.

How do I challenge my thinking? Firstly, don’t live in an echo chamber, we all seek to follow those who are our people on social media but don’t disregard those who aren’t, having someone challenge your thinking whether you agree with them or not is a good thing, if not to reinforce how you feel about something but to keep you constantly learning and questioning. Be curious,?want to know how others feel, what they do and how they do it. It is so liberating to have a conversation with someone that completely changes your view and maybe the industries view of what we are doing, how we are helping clients. Always be the leaders and the innovators.

When we approach new processes or want to think about how we can be more effective I want you to forget all of what you know; this is hard because we draw upon our previous experiences and ways of working but this can limit you.

You need to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

We need to trust and believe in our ability to make the change, to follow it through, celebrate the wins on the way though and take it step by step so we reach the goal by learning. Take a minute to think about the 4 day working week, we went big, we took a risk, we phased in and took it step by step; we have adjusted and we are still learning but we are a long way away from the first few weeks and its literally changed the way we live and look after our clients.

Big projects need a big team, having strong and positive people around you make it easier to challenge the norm in a safe space, where we can talk about ideas and champion or dismiss them as not quite right for this project. The biggest gift is having ideas! Being able to talk all aspects through so we come to a comprise, find common ground. I encourage you and want to hear you aloud, think braver!?

‘Meaningful’ is a big part of Pete’s message and runs through him and his work, its admirable and inspiring, and now its Jacksons message to grow. I believe we all turn up with a passion because we are doing something meaningful together for our clients.

You need to be able to think of nothing to allow space to think of something!
