A big thank you...kia ora!
It’s been an amazing week, and I wanted to share some gratitude. While it may feel a little weird to have to write an “acceptance speech”, we all have to do things a little differently at the moment and I need to share some thoughts!
Firstly, it is an honour and privilege to receive this award from the Procurement Excellence Forum. I remember when I was nominated and feeling pretty stoked with that. Then I got shortlisted, another reason to feel happy. I don’t think I've had time to think about what might happen if I received the award… It made for an exciting hour on Thursday evening! Thanks to the PEF team that put in the work to make this event happen, I know there is a lot of volunteer hours.
The most amazing thing to receive is an award from your peers who are the people I admire and whose work I respect. Thank you for all the messages, many of which have meant so much. The cup is overflowing! It so exciting to see Social and Sustainable Procurement front and centre with visibility and recognition.
Some thank you to everyone who has supported this mahi and my journey.?I have a few special people in particular to thank:?
And last, but most importantly to my girls Steph and Mackenzie for putting up with my passion every day and fuelling it with their aroha and support.?
Thank you to all the Buyers, Suppliers and Partners we work with in Aotearoa and around the world who are in the trenches showing how we can do things differently, and to the social and sustainable procurement leaders who have taken up the wero/challenge of change. A special thanks to NZ Post who so enthusiastically leaned in and started all of this.
I’ve found a profession and role that I am truly passionate about. I’m lucky to find that thing, the thing that lots of people are striving for. For me, the opportunity to contribute as a professional and make a difference to the people and the world around me is what inspires me. I’m planning on sharing some more comprehensive thoughts on all of this in the future…

Procurement is a profession that has so much potential.
It’s time for the Procurement Super Heroes to realise that potential.?And it's time for the wider Procurement Team to show what the function is really about. Look at all the amazing finalists and nominees; realise that everyone can and needs to contribute.
So keep pushing for that positive change.
Keep collaborating.
Do things different to make things better.
And keep getting s&!t done!
