A BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL CLINICAL RESEARCH PROFESSIONALS...!!

Ever wonder what to answer when your relatives/non medical person ask you about your job profile? Well, It happens with me often, I can not find proper words to explain them about the clinical trials or phases of clinical trials. It's like story and I read somewhere “Clinical trials save life” which gives me inspiration to write this article.

Clinical Trials Day is a well deserved intermission and halt to appreciate and recognize the people who involved in clinical trials. This is the day to say “Thank You” for what clinical research professionals do every day to improve public health. On this day, take a moment to honor clinical research professionals by recognizing their contributions to public health and medicine. The International clinical trial day is celebrated every year on 20th May.

This Day is celebrated around the world to recognize the day that James Lind started what is often considered the first randomized clinical trial aboard a ship on May 20, 1747. Clinical research professionals are the people who have dedicated their careers to improving public health for the world population, and they have been working in high gear during the conduct of clinical trials. As clinical research professionals, we have been treating patients, saving lives, making discoveries, managing clinical trial activities, carrying on research activities, and doing so under the most difficult circumstances. Each and everyone from sponsor to CRO to clinical investigating site to regulatory doing a great job to make clinical trial successful.

I had a wonderful journey in the clinical trial industry since 2014. I am proud of myself that I am contributing to this industry at my level best. I managed many clinical trials during my tenure. I witness many of successful stories in this journey by managing clinical trials especially when I was part of clinical trial (as a Clinical Research Associate/Team Lead) and it got approved from the regulatory and as a result, a new medicine/formulation/vaccine available for public access specially during COVID-19 pandemic. And also, I am proud that as a part of clinical trial team, many rare disease participants survived due to the availability of the new treatment/medicine through clinical trials.

I want to thank each clinical research professional involved in clinical trial industry. It is well known that lots of hard work, time, logistic and people management involved start from literature survey to pre-clinical study to phase IV clinical study. I can feel the pain when you invested all your time and beyond the limit efforts, even hours of yours which you made available for clinical trial when medical emergencies are at your doorstep. But, believe me, all these sacrifices reward you in one or another way when a new medicine/formulation/device/best effective treatment available for public access through clinical trials. We did a great job for clinical trial industry; we are doing a great job and we will absolutely give our best for years and years. I am proud of myself being part of such a noble job and contributing what I can towards public health.
