Big Shift: Scalable Efficiency to Scalable Learning

Latin lesson!?Stick?with me.?It’s an eye-opener on?the power of scalable learning.?

The Latin root for “education” is?“educare,” meaning?to “train or mold.”?Obvious, right??

Not so fast.?My Meriam-Webster also cites?the?Latin?root?“educere,”?for “leading forth.”?As in, leading?forth?to new?ways of?thinking?and?solutioning. And yet, businesses still fall victim to?“train and mold,” cramming?heads with information. Time?for leading forth, away?from?mind-numbing?scalable efficiency?and toward?innovation-driving?scalable learning.

As?global?authority?on scalable learning?and contributor to Ecosystems Customer Value Community,? John Hagel ?told me,?our?rapidly changing world?demands?learning through the creation of new knowledge, “not?just?sharing existing knowledge but how can?we be?constantly seeing the changes around us and?coming?up with new approaches to address those changes?that weren’t?known before?”

In the scalable learning environment, people?huddle to blend their?tacit, experiential knowledge into new?knowledge.?Compare that to scalable efficiency,?where questions are?labeled as?distractions,?making?John?wonder,?"How are you going to learn if you're not asking questions?" ?

So, the?big?question. How does an enterprise?join?the Big Shift – John’s famous phrase – from scalable efficiency to scalable learning??

At Ecosystems, the scalable learning paradigm is now intentionally designed into our software platform.?Through?“guided digital coaching,”?sales and customer success professionals?can?access?leading research and coaching on buyer enablement?by renowned researcher?and new Ecosystems team member Brent Adamson . Right in the very product experience of collaborating with customers on value, sales and CS now receive a coaching experience on how to be more confident in discussing value with their customer. The product experience and learning experience are one.?

In order to generate knowledge through peer interaction, Ecosystems created the Customer Value Community. It’s the dynamic, virtual huddle where 1,000+ members share tacit knowledge to generate new knowledge for co-creating value with customers.?

We are still early on this journey to scalable learning. So much more to learn and share as we venture down the road together.?
