• ???? NY Governor Hochul visited Cornell's Center for Jewish Living yesterday, after horrible antisemitic threats were made on an online forum (suspect now in custody). Student leaders at the CJL have been supporting the community and providing food, please donate to their new fundraising page, to fund security measures and support the community
• ???? Cornell's Family Business Conference was last week, 180 family businesses gather at the Statler every year, to discuss family business topics like taxes, succession, legislation, work-life balance. My favorite part is the Family Business Dinner, that features all the family wineries and family bakeries and family spicers!
• ???? Hackathons are really popular at Cornell, in all kinds of subject areas, like food, agricultural tech, hospitality, big ideas, and more! Hackathons are a great way for students to learn about entrepreneurship, and create products outside of traditional classroom schoolwork. Hackathons are looking for more mentors, for more sponsors, for more participants!
• ????♀? Cornell University Police Department does amazing community relations work, weekly popup coffee chats, all around campus, with office tours and ride-alongs. The Cornell Police department has 68 officers, and 2 dogs. I was impressed by how well the department is run, everything is well-documented, the body cameras, the evidence custodian lockers, the lost and found labeled by boxes and time and place
• ????? Cornell Outdoor Education started in 1972, over 200,000 Cornellians have went through COE! There's so much to learn outside of the traditional classroom, COE teaches those skills, like leadership, teamwork, adventure!! Alumni are all welcome to take classes, and sign up their company for corporate retreats and team building events!
• ???? Cornell Store annual Coupon Book is now available. 14 coupons, over the school year, can be used in Ithaca stores, Weill Cornell NY store, or online. I bought so much good stuff with last year's coupons, tons of compliments! coupon book proceeds go to United Way of Tompkins County, support local nonprofits.
• ???? Cornell Student Agencies is searching for a new CEO, ideally a Cornellian with 20+ years operating experience in a variety of industries, looking to move back to Ithaca and give back. The CEO is mostly a teaching position, the student managers are responsible for profits & losses, the CEO provides mentorship and continuity over the years.
• ???? Ithaca Friends of the Library, Book Sale! on the last day of the sale, it's $1 for a bag of books. I got 9 books and a birthday card, all for $1. support the local Tompkins County Public Library! I liked all the old Cornell books, to learn all the Cornell history, and I liked all the art books, I like to look at the colorful pictures, and I'm trying to learn more about art!
