I’ve provided a round-up of the big news and analysis impacting C-Suite and leadership teams right now – this week including tackling burnout, championing women leaders and more…
What the games industry must do to prevent occupational burnout – a big topic that’s relevant in games and beyond in today’s modern workplaces. And, while this article by Game Developer recognises that conditions in the industry are improving, it asserts that burnout is still an issue, highlighting research by game writer Lis Moberly and designer Tim Stobo who discussed the data at GDC. Their findings showed that while developers may be crunching less, they are still being ‘devastated’ by occupational burnout. Read more on their research – and their suggestions for solutions – here.
Like the games industry, the wider tech space has a concerning lack of women in leadership roles. And this analysis by International Business Times highlights that the representation of women in tech leadership roles has actually declined – from 35% in 1984 to 28% in 2023. In this piece, Celina Shi, Chief Marketing Officer at OnePlus Europe, offers some suggestions for How Companies Can Champion Women’s Leadership Roles in the Tech Industry. Read more here here.
Meanwhile, companies in which employees felt a genuine commitment to sustainability had a 16% higher employee engagement rate than those where employees felt the commitment was absent. That’s according to a survey by employee experience business Culture Amp, reported by HR Magazine in the article Commitment to Sustainability Boosts Employee Engagement. You can find out more here.
