It was an eventful day on the 6th June 2018. I was witnessing the first ever partnership MoU signing ceremony between LinkedIn and Mandiri Institute.
We are excited to share that we will be using LinkedIn Economic Graph data analysis to prepare a joint research examining Indonesia’s relative skill level and readiness to meet the skill requirements of the jobs of the future. A key component of the report will involve using insights from the Economic Graph to uncover emerging and declining jobs which will allow us to make recommendations regarding education and curriculum design, and tailored skills-focused training for these newly identified jobs. In conjunction with our ability to see emerging degrees and graduates (talent supply), working with Mandiri Institute we can help uncover opportunities to create a stronger alignment between the education that future job-seekers receive, and what the labor market demands.

We have a unique opportunity through this partnership to act as a trusted advisor to government, industry, the education sector and job seekers, on the future of jobs and the skills required to get those jobs.
Why LinkedIn?
LinkedIn’s vision is to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce. The Economic Graph is how we are operationalizing the data on our platform in pursuit of that vision.
For those of you unfamiliar with our work in this area, the Economic Graph is a digital representation of the global economy based on data generated from the interaction and activity of our 560+ million members, 20 million companies, more than 15 million open jobs, 50 thousand standardized skills, and 60 thousand educational institutions. Let’s make it easy - it’s all the data on LinkedIn.
Through mapping every member, company, job, and school, we’re able to spot early trends in talent migration, hiring rates, and in-demand skills by region over time, and in real time. These insights help us connect people to economic opportunity in new ways.
In Indonesia, we have over 10 million members, 214k companies, 48k open jobs, 23k standardized skills and almost 10k higher education organizations. The Greater Jakarta region is also one of the most connected regions in the world after London, Amsterdam and San Francisco. So we are well placed to contribute.
By striking this important partnership we can use the Economic Graph’s aggregated and deidentified insights to share real time workforce observations in Indonesia and across the region, seen through the lens of LinkedIn data.
This new labor market transparency is valuable for the purpose of informing policy creation, advising on the update of curriculum and training programs, and generally to help guide job-seekers.
“We are delighted to be working with Bank Mandiri and the Mandiri Institute to assist the government of Indonesia to prepare its citizens to meet the challenges, and opportunities, of the future of work and learning.” Olivier Legrand, Managing Director APAC LinkedIn.
I am extremely excited for this partnership, I believe the research will shape Indonesia’s workforce of the future.
