The shocking visibility of rough sleeping and homelessness on the streets of our country are reaching almost unprecedented levels; with the rise of tented and cardboard cities a disturbing new feature of the landscape.
The reality for many who are new to the streets is that they walk at night and sleep in the day for warmth and safety.
Our night walk is in recognition of these realities, raising vital funds to support The Big Issue Foundation’s work with our vendors as they journey to escape the poverty of their situations.
I am taking part in this event because I know just how valuable our support is and how we can help change lives for good.
Whilst the external realities are harsh and the walk is a challenge, I know from having completed all of our night walks that this event is amazingly positive.
Our vendors take part, people travel from far and wide (this year with a couple travelling all the way from the USA!), new friendships are made and the commitment to make a difference is more than palpable.
I urge everyone to become a star under the stars for one night on Friday the 3rd of March. One night’s walk will help provide many many days of help in these most challenging of times. Do join us!
If you are unable to join us then please do sponsor me. The fundraising target per person is ￡220, I hope, with some extra support, to achieve ￡1000!
