Big Little Victories
Hello All,
At LightEdison we are big about always making sure to celebrate little victories. During these difficult times, it is even more important to focus on the positives each day. I wanted to share an excerpt from our internal message board today. It was powerful and made me so proud of our teams and the little big impacts we try to have on each community!
"I wanted to take a moment to recognize something extraordinary one of our teammates did recently. Too often, small acts like this are overlooked and forgotten because they aren't always considered part of our daily business routine. In reality, it is gestures such as these that we should be sharing and remembering -- not only to set a positive tone for our working environment, but to celebrate one another as humans, and remember the great Country in which we live. Recently, as our crews were wrapping up a job (taking care to minimize customer contact and practicing strong social distancing measures in the community), our crew noticed the American Flag at the site was flying on only one grommet. At the given moment they were moving and getting setup in another area outside. Our crew member hurried up and got everything in place and excused himself to take care of something. His comment was, "sorry, I have to take care of this. It's important." He walked over to the flagpole in front of the building and lowered the flag. He removed the worn clip that had separated and disconnected from the bottom grommet, and used a carabiner to reattach the bottom grommet to the halyard line. He then raised the flag, and got back to work as if what he'd just done was nothing special, but merely part of his duties. Thanking him just didn't feel like enough, but we recognized that he didn't do this for the attention, rather his own pride and respect for our Country. Coming from a military family, his selfless act made us all appreciate the freedoms we've been given. It is often overlooked acts of kindness and respect like this that make me realize the good we're all doing together. I am truly and deeply grateful that we have these types of people on our team, and I hope these acts are learned and recognized, as that is the culture for which we are striving for."
Thanks to our team member for sharing this inspiring post and all the men and women who serve!
