A big lesson I learnt when I bought my first property

Have you ever followed the herd? you know the herd of people around you? Accepting advice from people can work both ways. You have be really careful what you feed your mind.

This takes me back to when i bought my first investment property. I signed the contract just before my 19th birthday. It was so exciting to buy a house. I remember the lead up to it. everybody around me from people i worked with, to friends and family said buy something close to where you live because it will be easy to maintain, you can keep an eye on it etc etc So i did i bought a 3 bedroom house close to where i lived. Then as time went by i had the property valued every single year. 7 years later that house had barely went up in value. What happened to houses doubling every 7 years like i'd heard?

I soon realised that if i had fed my mind with expert advice i would have bought somewhere else where the prices may have doubled in 7 years. This was an amazing lesson for me and I am so thankyou i had learnt it. Yes the house wasn't the right one to purchase but its now taught me a valuable lesson that i can use for life.

Since learning this I have put my head down to study what causes house prices to increase in value. What causes supply and demand. Every single house purchase I made whether it be for myself or a client I put an enormous amount of thought to determine where is the best areas currently in Australia to buy before putting pen to paper.

Fed your mind with people that have or are currently doing what your wanting to achieve. Leave the amateur advice behind.

Who are you taking advice from?
