Crazy that October is already here, but what can I say: time flies when you're having fun.
Lots to discuss in the world of immigration, tech and business this week.
- There were some major changes this week in Canadian immigration regarding the Intra-company transfer work permit, Startup visa work permit and more. On Friday I discussed them in full detail on the Visto Show, as well as some other topics like the recent non-confidence votes, Express Entry updates and more!
- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) are all the rage, and for good reason, so it was exciting to post the most recent episode of the
Canadian Immigration Pros Podcast
this week where I did a deep dive on the Alberta PNP with guest
Yana Tasheva, RCIC
. You can give it a watch or listen here.
- Canadian immigration + AI keeps on getting better thanks to recent updates to the Visto AI Copilot, specifically trained on over 1,000 government sources (and counting). Law firms across Canada have been using it since February and their feedback has helped us make it better each month too. More info and updates on our immigration AI here.
- Last week an Uber driver helped my wife out of a very sticky situation. There's a lot of negative sentiment toward immigration right now, let this be a reminder of some of the good sides of it. Read the full story in my most popular LinkedIn post from last month here.
- I talk to a lot of business owners each week, especially those who run law firms. So I spent some time reflecting on the 2 most common problems I hear these business owners struggle with here, and the 2 most common ways we talk about scaling business operations here.
- Also tried something new on Substack this week, by sharing the profile/story/tips of a solopreneur who runs a $1 million cleaning business. It's an interesting business story with some good lessons, and/or could also be a good blueprint to follow if you've been thinking of starting a similar business of your own. Read it here.
That's some of the best of my content from the last few weeks. I'm also starting to get a little more active on Twitter/X, although I admittedly prefer LinkedIn, but if you have any tips or want to connect over there then feel free to connect with me over there too!
Thanks for following along and have an awesome week,
