The Big Hush
I want to share this tale of frustration, dedication and determination...
In a year when an unprecedented number of musicians and artists had the rug pulled from under their feet, literally having their livelihoods wiped out due to multiple lockdowns, I wanted to share one man’s experience.
As a self-employed, self-sufficient and successful guitar player/singer/songwriter, Dave Day started 2020 with a packed diary of live shows, touring and international travel. An exciting time for this accomplished and respected musician.
During the fist leg of a European tour with Leo Sayer, the call came to end the tour! Expecting this to be a short-term set back whilst Covid-19 was sorted, the expectation was that things would be back to some sort of normal by the end of summer. We all know what happened next!
But for this guy, it was clear that work as he knew it was changing dramatically. With mortgage payments to meet and bills to pay, he bit the bullet and looked at retraining.
Unfortunately, Mr Sunak’s ‘plan for jobs’ doesn’t support the self-employed. Turned away from multiple attempts to retrain and to find alternative work, Dave threw himself into what he knows best.
Dedicated to his craft and determined to stay positive, the result of 6 months spent locked in a studio is simply outstanding, “The Big Hush” is an eclectic mix of Americana, Country, Rock , soul, country rock, featuring Bryan Corbett, Beth Rowley and Leo Sayer.
