BIG growth in Nuremberg

Over 4 million passengers expected in 2017 | 18 new destinations

Nuremberg Airport has started 2017 with growth of 22,8 % in the first quarter of the year. The airport expects significant double digit growth to achieve a total of more than 4 million passengers for 2017. 18 new destinations, including Athens, Birmingham, Belgrade, Kiev, Madrid, Palermo, Krakow and Tel Aviv, will complement an interesting route portfolio from Nuremberg.

The airport now also offers an outstanding level of nonstop services with nonstop flights to 15 European capitals. Nuremberg airport’s remarkable growth has been driven mainly by Eurowings, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Germania. Larger aircraft and twice daily services to Vienna mean that Eurowings has increased its capacity by more than 80 %. From summer 2017 onward, Wizz Air will offer new flights to Tuzla, Belgrade and Kiev.

From May 2017 onwards, bmi regional, a new carrier on the market, will offer daily nonstop flights between Birmingham and Nuremberg. The regions around both cities are centers for the automotive supply industry and the addition of this route feeds the travel demands of this sector.

Ryanair’s decision to base two aircrafts in Nuremberg from summer 2017 indicates a strong commitment to the airport. The airline will operate 56 weekly flights to 15 destinations, including daily services to London, Budapest, Rome, Milan and Manchester.

Germania will also base a second aircraft at Nuremberg from summer 2017 onwards. The airline will serve 17 destinations including five new destinations for Nuremberg: Athens, Paphos/Cyprus, Dalaman, Keflavik, Sharm-el-Sheik, La Palma and Tel Aviv (from November 2017).
