BIG BANG change is HARD (but) ...
There's been a BIG BANG change recently. And it's actually changed a few different perspectives around it. Over the course of the past few years, it's been a constant theme of my narrative around why BIG BANG approaches should avoided at all costs, incremental change is better for all concerned and taking that approach into different scenario (outside of the normal tech space and into research or understanding problems).
BIG BANG (change) sometimes cannot be avoided or is just the way it is.
This is all based upon past decisions, future outcomes and finding that fit. And this is something that hit me personally. (which is not something that I write about much but is important as an example of why that first step of change can be be hard but very important).
We can't change what has happened in the past. Major projects, big implementations and impactful decisions. Some of these were done (in the IT world) over 20 years ago (at least). Over time, it does get harder to change and I definitely experienced that resistance when solutions were "too critical", "too hard", "not enough value", "can't get the business buy-in" that stopped any change then (so it continues).
From a workforce perspective when you know people that have made decisions to stay in the same role, leave the workforce to focus on family, got too busy in the everyday because business was "too good", the way we organiser our financial position, the way we interact and networks, these can also turn into years of stability but lacks the change.
These things are in the past and cannot be changed. BIG BANG change is hard - emotionally, financially and effort. This in itself can take time, patience and resilience.
And looking at the current situation and understand, it's a blend of different ways of executing that can this experience to be better. A combination if you will. BIG BANG change doesn't need a BIG BANG approach but it does need BIG BANG commitment.
Last week, there's been some changes at home where there has been a positive BIG BANG that has taken years to come ahead. It is worth it. It is fantastic outcome. However, it does mean that other things that will change as well. The biggest thing is that I will be less visible (in-person) for certain things. And my calendar will look a little different.
Whether it is #ChooseToChallenge or #ReshapeTheFuture, advocating for us to help each other such we all can be better will be a continued influence.
And of course - #CommunityMatters #ItTakesAVillage

4 年I'm proud that it's been 1 week since this change. And life has continued on. People adapted and worked through it. We'll see what happens a month or two.
