Biden-Harris Administration Releases Version 2 of the National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan

On the 7th of May, 2024, the Biden-Harris Administration released a 2nd version of the National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan(NCSIP) which traces the actions to be taken by the Federal government to improve the U.S. national cybersecurity posture. This program defines 100 Federal initiatives that can have a significant impact on preserving digital security and instilling U.S. citizens with an empowering sense of resilience. These actionable items have been decided on the base of the challenges and opportunities faced in the digital world–building on the pre-existing threats, as identified by the 2024 Report on the cybersecurity posture of the United States.?

This 2nd phase for NCSIP includes an enhanced sense of commitment to the Federal government’s effort to keep cyberspace safe and do it in ways that are transparent and accountable. In their way towards a more cyber-secure ecosystem, new initiatives have been included and outlined in the President’s National Cybersecurity Strategy.? This includes the 5 pillars:

  • Pillar 1: Emphasizes on defending the pre-existing critical infrastructure
  • Pillar 2: Highlights the importance of disrupting and dismantling threat actors
  • Pillar 3: Focuses on sculpting the market forces to guide security and resilience?
  • Pillar 4: Elucidates the importance of investing in building on to a sturdy future
  • Pillar 5: Outlines the importance of forging international partnerships to track and realise future cybersecurity goals

The NCSIP has been defined as a facet of the document that will be updated on an annual basis, to ensure its adaptability is applicable in the future as and when the required measures for cybersecurity change!
