Biden chooses Senator Kamala Harris

Wikipedia shares information on Biden's choice for Vice President running mate... Kamala Devi Harris was born on 10-20-1964, an American politician and lawyer serving as the Junior United States Senator from California since 2017... Harris is the presumptive Democratic Vice Presidential nominee for the 2020 election, running alongside former Vice President Joseph Biden.

Whether a Biden / Harris ticket were to win, Harris goes down in history as the first African American / Asian American to be chosen as the running mate of a major party's presidential candidate.

Born in Oakland, California, Harris is a graduate of Harvard University and University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and later the City Attorney of San Francisco's office.

Kamala Harris made a name for herself as a no-nonsense prosecutor in Oakland, Calif., and it didn’t take her long to develop the same reputation in Washington. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, she has put tough questions to President Trump’s nominees and Cabinet officials, producing viral moments and raising her national profile. Her long career in law enforcement — first as San Francisco district attorney and later as California attorney general — is both her greatest strength and her main vulnerability. To her defenders, Harris was a progressive force for change, an opponent of the death penalty, and a supporter of racial bias training for police and re-entry programs for felons. To her liberal critics, she didn’t do enough to reduce prison overcrowding, investigate fatal police shootings or review wrongful convictions. Harris, who would become the first woman to be elected president, will be forced to defend her record and more clearly define her political identity.

Like Barack Obama Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) is the descendant of an Irishman who owned a slave plantation in Jamaica, according to her father's lengthy ancestral summary of his side of the family.

Donald Harris, a Stanford University economics professor, revealed in 2018 that his grandmother was a descendant of Hamilton Brown, the namesake of Brown's Town in northern Jamaica. "My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown’s Town)," he wrote in a post for Jamaica Global. Hamilton Brown built the town's local Anglican Church, which is where Prof. Harris says his grandfather is buried. It is also where he himself was baptized and confirmed.

A research archive of Jamaican records indicate that at one point in 1817, Hamilton Brown owned scores of slaves. The majority were brought in from Africa, though he also owned many Creole slaves. The Harris campaign has not commented on her father's claims. It did not respond to a request for comment.

Kamala Harris’s Ancestors Owned Slaves, Her Father Says

Presidential hopeful's Jamaican father wrote about his slave-holding ancestor… Brent Scher - JULY 9, 2019 4:30 PM… Sen.

NBC News reported on Monday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's two great-great-grandfathers owned at least 14 slaves between the two of them in Alabama. The report tied McConnell's ancestry to his position on government reparations for slavery, which he opposes.

McConnell responded to the report on Tuesday by comparing his stance to former president Barack Obama, who opposed reparations while acknowledging that some of his ancestors owned slaves. "You know, I find myself once again in the same position as President Obama," McConnell said. "We both oppose reparations, and we both are the descendants of slaveholders.” Harris has yet to take a definitive position on reparations for slavery. When the California senator was asked in February whether she supports "some form of reparations for black people," she said she did, but was unclear on how exactly it would be paid out.

"We have to be honest that people in this country do not start from the same place or have access to the same opportunities," Harris said. "I'm serious about taking an approach that would change policies and structures and make real investments in black communities."

A few weeks later she distanced her position from explicit payments to the descendants of slaves, saying she views policies aimed at lifting up the poor, such as her tax credit to low-income families, as reparations.

"If you look at the reality of who will benefit from certain policies, when you take into account that they are not starting on equal footing, it will directly benefit black children, black families, black homeowners because the disparities are so significant," Harris said. She later told NPR that reparations "means different things to different people."

"I think that the word, the term reparations, it means different things to different people," Harris said. "But what I mean by it is that we need to study the effects of generations of discrimination and institutional racism and determine what can be done, in terms of intervention, to correct course."

Harris has not commented on her distant slaveowner ancestry in Jamaica. Her father earlier this year said his daughter's ancestors would be "turning in their grave" if they heard her stereotype the island's people as "pot-smoking joy seekers.”

Kamala Harris attacked Joe Biden for being against busing and being friends with racist segregationist Democratic senators at a debate implying he was racist.

Harris was right since Biden was a great friend of Senator Bird who was a member of the KKK. Harris also said she believed all the women who accused Biden of unwanted touching. These videos will be shown again and again during the less than 86 days before November 3.

After running nearly two weeks past the deadline he set for himself to announce his VP, Joe Biden announced today that Senator Kamala Harris would be his running mate.

Biden had made it clear that a woman would be his running mate, and other potential picks included YouTube expert Susan Rice, Gretchen Whitmer, Tammy Duckworth, and Karen Bass. So in other words, as terrible a pick as Kamala is, it actually could’ve somehow been worse.

Harris does seem like an odd choice, especially considering the tense exchange she had with Biden on the debate stage over busing where she implied that he was a racist. And while she merely implied Biden was a racist, she was more definitive when it came to women accusing him of sexual misconduct.

As The Hill reported on April 2019:

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said Tuesday that she believes women who say they felt uncomfortable after receiving unwanted touching from former Vice President Joe Biden. “I believe them and I respect them being able to tell their story and having the courage to do it,” Harris said at a presidential campaign event in Nevada. The California senator added that Biden will need to decide for himself whether to run for president. “He’s going to have to make that decision for himself. I wouldn’t tell him what to do,” Harris said. Harris will unquestionably walk back on her prior comments implying that Biden is racist (which she was smart enough to hedge at the time, saying that she didn’t believe Biden himself was racist before using charged language to imply as much), but how will she explain away why she no longer believes Biden’s accusers? And if she still does, why did she accept the offer to be his running mate?

Those are good questions – which is why you can’t expect a journalist to ask her them anytime soon.

“Kamala Harris is the meanest, most horrible, most disrespectful, MOST LIBERAL of anyone in the U.S. Senate. We cannot believe that Joe Biden would pick her as his running mate.

Everything we’re fighting for is on the line right now! These two corrupt career politicians have made it clear that they want to protect sanctuary cities, protect criminals, take away your Second Amendment rights, and DESTROY America.

Gravitas: Kamala Harris… Good or bad news for India?

An interesting perspective. Our friends in India tell us Kamala Harris is not a good choice, in their words: “Nobody from the Indian community is ever going to vote for her because she doesn't consider herself of Indian origin in the first place. + the Democratic wrong leanings… why would somebody vote for Democrats? You will be surprised at the fact that despite of her mother being from India if anybody asks her or refers to her as being of Indian origin, she is reported to have got very angry at that person. Why would anybody in Indian community support such a behavior?

Secondly the Leftist leaning, Muslim leaning policies of Democrats none in the Indian community that I know of will support. We so very much pray for Trump to continue to be our president.”
