BID Members to Participate in 'Light the World in Teal' for Alzheimer's Awareness
Coconut Grove Business Improvement District
The BID develops programs to keep the District clean, secure, funds marketing and special events in Coconut Grove!
From skyscrapers and stadiums in major cities to small businesses and town halls across all 50 states and around the world will light up in teal for Alzheimer’s awareness as part of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s (AFA) “Light the World in Teal” campaign launch, Nov. 2
Light the World in Teal is an annual program held in November as part of?Alzheimer’s Awareness?Month. Sites, buildings, and landmarks around the world are invited to “go teal” to raise awareness and show support for the millions of people affected by?Alzheimer’s. Teal is AFA’s Alzheimer’s awareness color.
By working with the Downtown Alliances in major cities across the U.S., more than 800 sites participated last year – and now it’s time for Coconut Grove to step up to help shine a light on this international health issue.
"This seemingly small gesture can go a long way in helping to draw major attention to this top health issue, which in turn can help increase federal funding for Alzheimer’s research and caregiver supports – and hopefully one day, a cure," says Acting Executive Director Cynthia Seymour.
Families looking for additional information about Alzheimer’s disease or support services can contact AFA’s Helpline at 866-232-8484 or visit?www.alzfdn.org.
