BiblioBoard is a Unicorn

No, we are not a private company worth $1 billion dollars, which has become the more common usage of this term when referring to technology companies. But as a profitable, fully employee-owned, growing, debt-free software company in the library space, we are just as rare.

It took us five years and $11 million dollars of investment to reach this point. The technology we have built along side our library development partners is causing positive disruption in the public, K-12 and Higher Ed / OER space. We are working hard and having a blast. We work with wonderful libraries all over the world who have co-invested in this vision with us and whose budgets ensure we get to continue this important work.

We believe in what we are doing and think it can change the world, which any of our customers and partners would attest to. In a business space that is dominated by private equity, I think we offer a refreshing alternative -- an employee owned company that is satisfied with meaningful work, organic growth and a sustainable business.

As I start to blog a bit more on LinkedIn, this seemed to be a perfect place to start. Saying thank you to the libraries that have helped us reach this point and with whom we are excited to help create the future of libraries.
