John 11:1-3, 6 “Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”

One thing that happens when we control our time instead of allowing others to control it is that we will have some people that that get upset with us. Look at what is said in the following two verses of John 11. “Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.”

Martha went to meet Jesus and kind of scolded Him for Him not asking how high when she said jump. She was telling Him that her needs should have taken precedence over anything else that was going on in his life at the time. Mary was so mad that she never came out of the house to meet him, she “sat still in the house”.

Had they have tried to understand what Jesus had going on at the time of their request they may have understood why He didn’t respond immediately and it would have been recorded and we would have known also. They didn’t care what He had to do! They were only concerned with what they had going on and it was the most important thing to them. Nothing else mattered to them except their need.

I will tell you that when you take control of your time instead of allowing others to control it that some people are not going to be happy with you. Stay focused on what really matters in your life even in the midst of the criticism that comes from others.
