The Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire

The Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire

Some things you just can’t see coming – like the letter that arrived today.

“Dear David, Congratulations! We are pleased to let you know that you were unanimously elected to the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire...”

I called my wife Sarah in less time than it took you to read this. A call to my Dad was next. Good news should travel fast. Those close to me have shared in my struggles, so it’s only fitting that they share in the good news as well.

My struggles as a TBI survivor are still more than most know. But my experience as a survivor means I have a very unique insight that can be used to serve a greater good and help others.

Sometimes it feels like I’m living someone else's life. Such is the duality of life after a brain injury – one body, two people. If this makes no sense, you are lucky indeed. However, if you find yourself nodding, then we are bound together by a shared fate.

A new opportunity to serve others... and a new chapter begins.

Peace,
