GC/HRMS Analysis of E-Liquids Complements In Vivo Modeling Methods and Can Help Predict Toxicity
Recent research published in ACS Omega reveals significant findings on the toxicity of e-liquids used in vaping. The study used GC/HRMS analysis to compare chemical signatures in vaped and unvaped e-liquids, identifying potential respiratory irritants.
In vivo experiments with zebrafish and mice models demonstrated that certain flavored e-liquids, particularly menthol, can induce oxidative stress and inflammatory responses.
These insights are crucial for understanding the health implications of e-cigarette use and highlight the need for stringent regulation and assessment of e-liquid components for public safety.
