A very rare visitor to Longsight this morning, Class 73 electro-diesel 73961 on a Network Rail measurement train. This may be the first ex-DC 3rd rail loco to visit the depot. Now over 50 years' old these locomotives were hauling trains around in electric and diesel modes long before the term bi-mode had even been invented!

I happened to work on the refurbishment project of the Class 73 Locos at Brush Traction in Loughborough in 2015. Fuel tank modifications and testing. Looking good!
