BI Intern Fall Experience

BI Intern Fall Experience

With another semester ending, I would like to reflect on my journey as an Intern at Orthofix, after an insightful internship in the summer, I continued my internship at Orthofix as Business Intelligence intern in the Information Technology Business Intelligence team. This was an experience that pushed me to my limits, both professionally and personally. Looking back, I am proud of the milestones I accomplished during my time here and am grateful for the support of my team and colleagues during this period.

Working on ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) was an exciting opportunity that allowed me to explore the world of geospatial data and mapping. It expanded my analytical capabilities by incorporating location-based insights into various business scenarios. Understanding the significance of geospatial data in decision-making was an eye-opening experience.

My internship's most important component was incorporating ArcGIS maps into Power BI reports. This combined view of non-spatial and geographical data offered a thorough understanding of commercial information. I gained expertise in integrating traditional business data with geographical components to enhance the analytical power of our reports. By considering both spatial and non-spatial characteristics, this integration improved the reports' visual attractiveness while also enabling stakeholders to make better decisions.

I got the opportunity to create reports and dashboards using Power BI. After converting unstructured data into significant understandings, I created dashboards showcasing key performance indicators (KPIs) and practical insights. Using both creative and analytical thinking, I tried to convey complicated data in a way that was both aesthetically pleasing and simple to understand.

The company’s fun culture, humility, and care has made this journey more rewarding. As I embark on the final weeks of my internship, I feel incredibly grateful for the experiences and opportunities company has offered me. I have a newfound respect for the people who work in both Medical Devices and the Healthcare field.

I'd also like to extend my thankfulness to my Program Director Gaurav Shekhar and program manager Sivya Leventhal, for their constant support.
