Bhupendra Patel takes oath as Gujarat CM for second term, PM Modi attends swearing-in ceremony
BJP leader Bhupendra Patel on Monday took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of Gujarat for a second consecutive term. The 60-year-old MLA from Ghatlodia was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Acharya Devvrat. He won the Ghatlodia seat in the December elections by a record?margin of 1.92 lakh votes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence minister Rajnath Singh also attended the grand swearing-in ceremony of new ministers in the government. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Tripura CM Manik Saha, and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were seen in attendance at the oath-taking ceremony.
Air India close to finalise deal of 50 Boeing 737 MAX planes for AI Express
Tata Group-owned?Air India?is close to finalising a deal with US aircraft maker Boeing for 50 narrow-body Boeing 737 MAX planes for its international budget arm Air India Express, according to sources. The sources familiar with the development said the deal will be part of a large aircraft order that Air India has been discussing with Boeing Co and Airbus SE since the beginning of this fiscal.
Loss-making Air India, which was taken over by the Tata group in January this year, plans to triple its fleet over the next five years, they added. As part of consolidating its airline business, the Tata group has also announced the merger of its domestic budget arm AirAsia India, which operates the Airbus A320 fleet, with Air India Express. Currently, Air India Express has 24 Boeing 737 planes in its fleet.
Dalmia Cement to acquire JP Associates’ cement units, power plants at this much valuation
Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd is set to acquire?Jaiprakash Associates?cement units, clinker units, and power plants at an enterprise value of Rs 5,666 crore. The acquisition will give Dalmia group an additional 9.4 million tonnes of cement and clinker capacity. The cement, clinker and power plants to be acquired are situated in the states of?Madhya Pradesh,?Uttar Pradesh?and Chattisgarh.
