Modernising Employment APPG event on Women in Work
On 28th February we welcomed our community back to Westminster for a special edition to the Modernising Employment APPG event catalogue ahead of International Women's Day later in March, with over 100 organisations joining us. The event, chaired by Maria Miller MP (former Minister for Women and Equalities), heard from fantastic speakers including Can't Buy My Silence, Lancaster University Management School, the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, Child Poverty Action Group UK , Reed Screening and the Better Hiring Institute.
Thank you to our attendees who contributed the session, it was a fantastic insight into the world of work, with further outputs to come.
Our next event is taking place virtually, exploring the uses and abuses of artificial intelligence in Hiring, taking place on 7th March 11:00-12:30. Click here to register your interest.

Last month we launched the Better Hiring Toolkit for Local Authorities in collaboration with the Local Government Association , Reed Screening , Cifas , and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) , aiming to provide best-practice guidance to hiring managers within local government. We were pleased to launch the Toolkit with colleagues at he Local Government Association on 22nd February.
Do you work in a local authority? How have you found the Toolkit? Let us know at [email protected]
We are also pleased to announce forthcoming guidance on Hiring Fraud within the Better Hiring Toolkit on Tackling Hiring Fraud, forwarded by the government's Anti-Fraud Champion Simon Fell MP and James Morris MP. The guidance was created in conjunction with our brilliant subcommittee members, who feed into all of our work, creating best practice within the UK.

Call for experts - shape the future of young people in employment
To ensure that the thoughts and views of young people are more fairly represented within the Hiring process, we have recently restructured our Future Hiring subcommittee to focus on the work of the Modernising Employment All-Party Parliamentary Group, ensuring that the events are shaped with young people in mind, and the outputs are future proofed for the workers of tomorrow.
Do you have a particular passion for ensuring that young people are fairly represented, and want to shape best-practice on a national platform? Then get in touch with us at [email protected], because we want to hear from you.
