#beyondconnections with Vladislav
Come on – Lets meet Vladislav – he is Production Supervisor in Vratsa, Bulgaria!
Tell me a little about yourself privately and business wise:
Hi I am Vladislav, 27 years old, married for 5 years and we have a wonderful little 4-year-old daughter.?Our cat Luna completes our little family. I love spending time with my family in my spare-time and I am also studying computer systems part-time. Business wise I have been working as a Production Shift Leader since over 7 years.
When and how did you know, you want to work in the production department?
Well, I didn’t know that until I had a summer job as a production operator during high school. I did a good job there and they offered me an interesting position with a lot of development opportunities. I was promoted and became Shift Leader. What can I say, I really like the challenges and dynamics of leading people in production.
Can you tell us a little bit more about those challenges and dynamics of being a Shift Leader?
I get a lot of energy from working with people and leading them. I think it is something that comes naturally – that I am good with people. For me its important to be on a personal level with all my employees and understand what motivates and demotivates them. The other side of the job is the challenge of planning ahead even though not all factors can be calculated 100%. Manufacturing plants have a lot of targets and hard KPIs that need to be met. This is why planning is so important and also staying solution-oriented also in stressful situations.

How long have you been at MD and how did you come to MD?
I joined the MD Bulgaria team 14 months ago. My previous job was similar but I wanted a bigger challenge. So, I went from leading 27 to now leading 119 people. To be honest I was already a MD-Fan before I started and just waited until the right position was posted. Around my home-town Vratsa we don’t have that many big companies, so it is great for me to be at work within 5 Minutes without having to commute.
Sounds really interesting. Can you walk us through your typical working day?
My day starts with checking the orders and targets for the day on my laptop. Then I meet with the Supervisor from the previous shift to do the handover. We discuss what went well and what problems or challenges have accrued. My next step is to check which operators will be on the shift. Before the shift starts I gather all front workers and we prepare the tasks for the operators. Then I am back at the laptop checking mails, updating status reports and planning ahead. My office is the production shop floor so I also walk through the production to see who needs help. Towards the end of the shift I review the quality analysis. On top comes projects where we work on process changes and how we can train the operators for the new processes.
And last question: What should people definitely know about MD Bulgaria?
MD Bulgaria is the newest production plant within the MD ELEKTRONIK Group. I like that the whole production and office is one great team. We don’t have bosses but leaders which makes a big difference for me.
