#BeyondCompliance Continues into 2025: A Look Back at AgUnity’s 2024 Journey

As 2024 comes to an end, we’re proud to look back on a year of impactful progress at AgUnity. From empowering over 100,000 smallholder farmers with transformative digital tools to becoming a Certified B Corporation?, we’ve pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in agricultural value chains.

This year brought its share of challenges, but each step strengthened our commitment to making farming more sustainable, equitable, and profitable for those who feed the world. Join us as we explore the milestones, lessons, and innovations that defined 2024—and discover how we’re shaping the future of agriculture in 2025 and beyond.

2024 Highlights

Achieving EUDR Compliance for Smallholder Farmers

This year, we focused on supporting cooperatives to meet #EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) requirements. Through the deployment of our Co-op Manager Platform and its enhanced features in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda, we’ve empowered smallholder organizations to embark on a transformative digital journey.

Key milestones include:

  • Launching the freemium Co-op Manager, now supporting over 100,000 registered farmers.
  • Deepening partnerships with organizations like OpenAtlas, integrating remote sensing to enhance compliance capabilities.

Joining the B-Corp Family

In February 2024, AgUnity became a Certified B Corporation?, cementing our commitment as a profit-for-purpose organization. This recognition drives us to balance commercial viability with meaningful social impact, staying true to our vision as social entrepreneurs. Read more here.

Expanding Our Reach

We’ve significantly increased our platform’s footprint:

  • 2023: 12,000 farmers supported across 11 cooperatives.
  • 2024: over 150,000 farmer records digitized across 173 cooperatives, GPS locations verified, with continued feature enhancements and testing to scale impact.
  • Multiple MOUs signed resulting in onboarding the records over an additional 200,000 farmers during the first quarter of 2025.

Innovative Projects

  • The rollout of FairInsight, developed for Fairtrade International, helps cooperatives manage and report about premium payment usage, aligning with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • In Ghana, our partnership with Wuntira Agribusiness Ventures supports how they aim to empower women and youth Shea farmers, planning to improve market access through digital transformation.

Advocacy and Recognition

  • Advocating for Data Sovereignty: We champion farmers’ control over their data, promoting transparency and trust in the agricultural sector.
  • Global Recognition: From joining the 2024 GBBC Ambassadors cohort to receiving recognition from partners like OCFCU, our efforts continue to gain international attention.

The challenges facing smallholder farmers are immense, and the scale of the digital transformation required is daunting. This transformation cannot happen farm by farm; it requires a collective approach that begins with aggregation and market access. We need to rethink existing agricultural value chains and innovate them in a systemic way.
