Beyond Words: What Your Movements Reveal About You

Beyond Words: What Your Movements Reveal About You

It's the body language that betrays.

Because one can always speak whatever one wants. We have that control over the tongue.

Equally important, however, is keeping control over one's body.

Most of the communication that happens between people is non-verbal. And when someone notices any sort of restlessness from your side - consciously or subconsciously - it can undermine the trust or respect they may have for you.

You want it or not - unnecessary swallowing down the throat, fidgeting hands, shaking crossed legs, and eyes that are darting here and there - they make one appear weak.

In high-stakes situations like negotiation meetings among companies and questioning of criminals by the police - such cues can greatly affect the outcome.

But you can also notice them in everyday interactions between a boss and subordinate, during the viva between student and a professor, and at romantic dates whenever there's awkward silence.

Don't let this happen to you. Don't let your body language betray you.

Start by becoming more self-aware. The next time you’re in a conversation, pay close attention to your own body movements. Are your hands restless? Are your eyes wandering?

If yes, try to consciously keep control over such movements. They transform the way people perceive and respond to you.

Least I can say: They can make or break things for you.
