Beyond the Word Wars
I am pleased to share the publication of my latest book. When Words Become Life: Seven Days and Seven Sayings that Changed the Universe is now available on Amazon books.
Last year, during the closing days of the presidential campaign, I became weary of time-worn, and seemingly dishonest, dogmatic answers to basic human needs. The daily storm of political (and religious) innuendo lead me to reexamine my own commitments and values.
I elected to seek wisdom, as much as possible, in quiet contemplation of the last words of Jesus at Calvary. I found so much more than I anticipated. While alternating between silent meditation upon Jesus’ last words and writing my inner responses, I was often surprised by tears of joy, feeling overwhelmed by emotions of well-being. Christ’s words of grace penetrated my heart in new ways, awakening me in the morning and putting me to rest at night. While writing, I often felt a surreal convergence of new insights and language, allowing me to create my first draft in just five weeks, making it possible to release this book in time for a countdown to Easter. Again, and again I encountered that which provided discernment and hope during distressful times, resulting in book that gives me joy to share with you.
When Words Become Life brings together a non-traditional interpretation and application of Christ’s last sayings, noting how His words at Calvary are intertwined with the Bible’s account of our origins and with our lives today. Jesus’ sayings at Calvary, combined with His appearance at the founding of our world, provide a paradigm for renewal now.
So, as Easter approaches, I invite you to take a life-transforming walk through the intertwined stories of creation week and Good Friday. Eight chapters, 200 pages of practical help for navigating through today’s cultural and religious conflicts.
