Beyond Unicorns!

India has recently become home to 100 Unicorns. Sounds Awesome, right? Let's see how it all started.?

Let’s go back to 2011 when InMobi - a mobile advertising company became the first unicorn startup in India. A decade ago, nobody in the startup ecosystem knew what was coming our way! And today in 2022, we have hit a century in creating a hundred startups who are 'Unicorns' From InMobi to Open, we have come a long way.?

Let’s understand what a unicorn startup is.?

“A term coined by Venture Capitalist, Aileen Lee in 2013, it means a privately held company with a valuation of over $1 billion.”?

Today, everyone is talking about this, and of course why not! These founders of Unicorn Startups have taught us a lot of things about perseverance, belief, and never giving up. Long sleepless nights, Tons of failures, and everyday challenges have brought them here today at the stage of “Yes, I have achieved this but it isn’t over yet.”?

Can you even imagine how they must have been feeling after the tag of “Unicorn?” I believe that feeling is beyond all the expressions.?

While we celebrate them, let's take a moment to also celebrate the rest of the emerging startups who are in this ecosystem and also go through the same amount of criticisms, failures, and rejections.?

There are about 66,359 DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) recognized startups across 642 districts of our country. Each of these startups is innovating something worthwhile which can make our lives simpler and more convenient. The founders have left their comfortable lives and have decided to create something innovative.?

Not every startup is going to become a 'Unicorn', but they will still be able to generate value for the ecosystem in one or another way. One thing that all these founders are doing is inspiring all of us to follow our passion. The innovation and perseverance of all the startups shouldn't go in vain.?

Such a great time, to promote these startups on a bigger platform so that their solutions can spread their magic in our society! Let's celebrate thousands of those entrepreneurs out there who are sitting in the corners of their offices and home and working on their ideas without giving up.?

It’s great to have Unicorns, but we should also focus on other startups that have the potential to create a huge impact on society. To start with, let's start celebrating 500+ emerging startups every quarter bringing change around us.?
