Beyond the Storm: Unlocking the Real Meaning of Resilience

Beyond the Storm: Unlocking the Real Meaning of Resilience

Is there something you get asked about a lot because somehow you find yourself becoming a subject matter expert about it? I know for so many of us, we often end up being the go-to for a topic - either because we speak about it a lot, we've lived it, we have been trained on it - and sometimes it's all of the above.

Resilience is something that is dear to my heart for so many reasons and I find myself increasingly ending up in conversations about it for entrepreneurs, workers in corporate America, families, and even kids. I really believe it is one of the biggest skills we can continue to strengthen and it's a lifelong journey!

Resilience is about thriving in the face of adversity, not just bouncing back. It’s the ability to transform setbacks into stepping stones for personal growth and future success.

Top 5 Strategies to Build Resilience

  1. Embrace Change: View change as an opportunity for growth and stay flexible in your approach.
  2. Practice Self-Care: Prioritize exercise, a balanced diet, and activities that bring you joy.
  3. Cultivate a Support Network: Build strong relationships for support and don’t hesitate to seek help when needed.
  4. Set Realistic Goals: Break goals into manageable steps and focus on what you can control.
  5. Develop Optimism: Challenge negative thoughts, keep a gratitude journal, and visualize your success.

Resilience is a skill that can be developed over time. By embracing challenges and finding personal meaning in resilience, we can transform obstacles into opportunities for growth.

I’d love to hear how you’ve cultivated resilience in your life! Share your experiences in the comments section.

I had the honor of speaking at the Society of Professional Women (SPW) about something truly close to my heart: meaningful connections.

Thank you The Society of Professional Women , Radnor Valley Country Club and The Main Line Chamber of Commerce ??

In a world ?? where we’re more “connected” than ever through technology, it’s ironic how disconnected we often feel. No AI, no technology, no cell phone can ever replace the magic of human connection. The heart ?? is 5000 times more powerful than the brain…

Being surrounded by so many incredible people reminded me just how essential real connection is.

We unpacked lots of actionable strategies to make those connections count, from the ABC method to the 555 consistency track, BOND, and yes, even bagels and croissants ??….you’ll have to come to the next one to learn more??

A huge thank you to Nicole Stephenson, IOM my magical connector, and to Greg Basile for introducing me to this amazing organization about a year ago at Emily Bittenbender event.

Standing on that stage felt like the perfect tribute to the beauty of true connection. ??

Loved seeing so many of my amazing connections: Ana Welsh , Kim Wright , Tania Sherrill , Greg Basile , Jaime Lynn Curley , Stacey Huyler , Raffaella Lo Castro, MBA , Alessandra Nicolas SO many more ??

I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of this episode on the Who Ya Know Podcast and to share my journey!

Host Trevor Houston invited me to recount the life-changing incident from June 16, 2022, as I transformed from victim to survivor and embrace a thriving life.

Throughout the episode, I discuss the impact of my trauma on my family and how I turned pain into purpose. I emphasize the importance of leaning into difficult moments and the role of forgiveness in healing. I highlight the necessity of building resilience, setting boundaries, and being a guiding light for others. Together with Trevor, we explore the transformative lessons learned from adversity, applicable not just to individuals but to businesses and communities as well.

Some notes from the podcast ????

?? Resilience is not something you can buy from a store. (Or rent, for that matter.)

?? It starts when you decide to become your own hero.

?? It begins with the courage to make bold choices.

?? It's built by taking life into your own hands.

What you can do to build resilience:

? Accept responsibility for your growth.

? Set one small goal to improve self-reliance.

? Reflect on how taking charge impacts your mindset.

In the business world, it's crucial to remember: "Resilience is the number one indicator of success." Get back up, embrace challenges, and continue pushing forward.
