Beyond React and Express: Unlocking Advanced Features with Next.js and Nest.js

I hope you have listened to MERN Stack several times in different places like on articles, on portals, etc. It is one of the most demanding and highly paid domain in the IT Industry.

It is a collection of technologies for full-stack development, encompassing database (MongoDB), backend framework (Express), frontend framework (React), and server-side runtime (Node.js). We can utilize such a stack to create and build robust websites from scratch. This MERN Stack can build the front-end, back-end, and database of entire websites. A lot of web developers have started to incorporate this MERN Stack in the website creation activity.

Let's understand its importance with some bullet points.

  • Full-stack development: The entire stack uses JavaScript, which allows developers with a single language expertise to build both the front-end and back-end of their applications. This reduces the need for different specialists and streamlines development.
  • Rapid development: Each component of the MERN Stack has a large community and extensive ecosystem of libraries and tools. This allows developers to influence pre-built components and functionalities, which accelerate the development process.
  • Scalability: All components of the MERN Stack are known for their scalability, meaning they can handle increased traffic and data volume as the application grows. This makes the stack suitable for building large-scale web applications.

Despite all these, many developers have started integrating "NextJS" and "NestJS" for developing the websites. The Next.js handles the client-side rendering, routing, and user interface logic of your application. The Nest.js provides a structured backend for building APIs, handling data access, business logic, and server-side functionality.

The NextJS is a framework built on top of ReactJS. Next.js allows for server-side rendering of pages, meaning the server pre-renders the HTML content before sending it to the browser. This can improve initial page load times and SEO (Search Engine Optimization), as search engines can directly index the content. Companies like Netflix , Uber , etc are using the NextJS framework.

Nest.js is a backend framework built on top of Express, providing structure and tooling for building APIs, microservices, and server-side applications using TypeScript or JavaScript. NestJS offers features like dependency injection, testing utilities, and built-in support for TypeScript, which can streamline development and improve code quality. Companies like 凯捷咨询 , GitLab , IBM , etc are using the NestJS Framework.

In this 21st century, with the integration of AI/AI Tools in the Computer Science World, WE - the "Web Developers" need to use the technologies wisely for better development and delivery of websites.
