Regulatory Updates from the European Union

The European Commission has introduced Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 on Ecodesign for Sustainable Products (ESPR), which came into effect on July 18, 2024. This regulation aims to make products more sustainable, circular, and energy-efficient throughout their lifecycle. A key component of ESPR is the Digital Product Passport (DPP), an information system that collects and provides essential data on:

  • Product composition
  • Environmental impact
  • Repair and recycling options
  • Traceability across the entire value chain

The goal of the DPP is to facilitate the transition to a circular economy, improving product management and making information accessible to all operators. Specific DPP requirements will be defined through delegated acts adopted by the European Commission, with initial requirements expected to take effect from 2027.

What This Means for Businesses

Companies will need to:

  • Implement data collection systems for product lifecycle tracking.
  • Adjust internal processes to comply with new eco-design requirements.
  • Adopt technological solutions to facilitate the introduction of DPPs and the necessary data collection.

Our Commitment

At MyLime, we are ready to support companies in adapting to these new regulations by providing innovative solutions for creating and managing Digital Product Passports.

Stay tuned for further updates—we look forward to seeing you at the webinar.
