?? I love Paris in the summer… ??

We were the inaugural guests on the Overshoot Podcast

Our co-founder joins Nandita Bajaj from Population Balance on her?podcast, the first one under its new name: OVERSHOOT | shrink toward abundance. The podcast delves into the far-reaching influences of patriarchy and pronatalism, the harms caused by endless economic growth, and the inadequacy of technological solutions to address the problems caused by technology.?

In this episode, Mathis Wackernagel argues that ecological overshoot is humanity's second-largest risk—while the largest one is the failure to address it. He explains why shrinking our ecological footprint is not a sacrifice but an opportunity to strengthen resource security. He then emphasizes that we benefit from ending overshoot through deliberate design rather than disastrous disruption.

Country Overshoot Days

Every year,?Country Overshoot Days?mark the dates when the planet’s annual biocapacity budget would be used up if everyone on Earth lived at the same level of consumption as the residents of that particular country.?

In December, we updated and?published?the dates for 2025. On the site, you will find a calendar, an illustration, and explanations. It is an invitation for all of you to use these tools.

We have also provided the dates of?Country Deficit Days, which refer to the dates by which the residents of a country begin to demand more than their country’s ecosystems can provide in the entire year.?Find out?more.
