Beyond the Numbers: Virat Kohli's Humility

Beyond the Numbers: Virat Kohli's Humility

In the realm of professional sports, humility often takes a backseat as athletes strive for greatness and positions of dominance.

However, it is those rare individuals who not only achieve success but also remain grounded amidst their accomplishments that truly captivate the world.

Virat Kohli, who has not only redefined the game but has consistently displayed a commendable level of humility, particularly when it comes to acknowledging his fellow athletes.

- Smith is the best test player of this generation.

- Babar is probably the best player in all 3 formats right now.

- I wasn't even 10% of Gil at Gil's age.

- People compare me to a batsman (Sachin), watching whose game I started playing cricket. No one can ever match what Sachin has done.

- It's not easy to score 5 centuries in the World Cup. I think Rohit is the best ODI player in the world right now.

Journalist- "Say once you are the best".

Kohli- "No, ABD Villiers is the best".

The above words belong to the owner of 25 thousand runs, 76 centuries.

Virat Kohli, the Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian national team, holds several impressive records in international cricket.

Here are his top 10 records:

1. Fastest to 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, 11,000, and 12,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

2. Most double centuries as a captain in Test cricket.

3. Fastest player to score 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, and 11,000 runs in Test cricket.

4. Most centuries in a calendar year across all formats (2017).

5. Fastest to reach 25 centuries in One Day Internationals.

6. Most centuries as a captain across all formats.

7. Fastest batsman to score 20,000 international runs.

8. Most runs in a single IPL season (973 runs in 2016).

These records are a testament to Virat Kohli's exceptional batting skills, consistency, and his ability to perform at the highest level in all formats of the game.

To my knowledge, not once has he said, “I am the best.” Not once.

I wonder, what kind of self belief does it take for a champion to shower such lavish praise on his contemporaries throughout his career?

His unwavering respect towards his contemporaries truly sets him apart.

We have seen his aggression on the field. What we may not have seen is his extreme humility off the field.

Truly amazing #viratkohli

Nothing succeeds like success. Success is to make you humble and acknowledge the divine interventions. Very few understand this. Virat is one of those humbled soul.

'We've seen his aggression on the field, what we may not have seen is his extreme humility off the field'. This sums up. I particularly respect Virat for his camaraderie with his rival team members - on and off field. It certainly is not his PR boys overworking - like in case of many others who are made to stage some of these actions. Virat is a gem of the game.
