Beyond Measure
By DL Banks
Power is not a means; it is an end.
The greater the spirit, the more one is alone. Words can be whispered bullet-quick when no one’s looking, and words don’t leave blood or bruises behind. Words disappear without a trace. That’s what makes them so powerful. That’s what makes them so important. The man who has power to conquer the world, goes forth and conquers it with courage. But the man who only has power in his life, will die for the greater power. Understand the power of truth, you will never be ashamed of anything.
When God takes out the trash, don’t go digging back through it. Trust Him. The higher a man stands on the social ladder, the greater the number of people he is connected with, the more power he has over other people, the more obvious is the predestination and inevitability of his every action. Knowledge is not made for understanding; it is made for cutting. Sometimes the words people don’t say are as powerful as the ones they do.
When we touch the place in our lives where sexuality and spirituality come together, we touch our wholeness and the fullness of our power, and at the same time our connection with a power larger than ourselves. Do not dilute the truth of your potential. We often convince ourselves that we cannot change, that we cannot overcome the circumstances of our lives. That is simply not true. You have been blessed with immeasurable power to make positive changes in your life. But you can’t just wish it, you can’t just hope it, you can’t just want it. Life’s trials will test you, and reshape you, but don’t let them change who you are. From this point forward, you don’t even know how to quit in life.
Stand up for who you are. Respect your Self and ignite the divine sparks in you. Access your powers. Choose your rights and work together with others to bring blessings into the lives. You can tell people of the need to struggle, but when the powerless start to see that they really can make a difference, nothing can quench the fire. It is the curse of the powerful to be blind to their own faults. Do not seek power for revenge. Seek power in order to avoid situations that would make you want revenge. All great leaders find a sense of balance through their levels of reception. For instance, those who support a leader may soften him, those who ignore him may challenge him, and those who oppose him may stroke his ego. Illiteracy is the number one promoter of ignorance.
A lie’s true power cannot be accurately measured by the number of people who believe its deception when it is told, it must be measured by the number of people who will go out after hearing it trying to convince others of its truth. Power will intoxicate the best hearts, as wine the strongest heads. No man is wise enough, nor good enough to be trusted with unlimited power. Weak men cannot handle power. It will either crush them, or they will use it to crush others. You can’t destroy knowledge. You can stamp it under and burn it up and forbid it to be, but somewhere it will survive.
Real men don’t dance to other people’s tune, instead, they play for others to dance. The world is a much more beautiful and incredible place than you think, and each of us has a great deal of power to make it more so. Your comfort zone is a place where you keep yourself in a self-illusion and nothing can grow there but your potentiality can grow only when you can think and grow out of that zone. There are only two most powerful situations being so small that you have nothing to lose and being so big that you don’t care what you lose!
It’s always good to be underestimated.
