Beyond Marketing: The Ripple Effect of Donor Support on Real Lives

Beyond Marketing: The Ripple Effect of Donor Support on Real Lives

While I once questioned the motives of corporate philanthropy, witnessing the impact of their contributions has erased any doubt. The motivations of outside industries donations may at times remain unclear, but the impact of those funds is undeniable. Participating in the Women Board Advocacy Training Program has been transformative; redefining my understanding of leadership, self-advocacy, and community engagement.

Today, I connected with alumni of New Directions Career Center ' two other signature programs, YES (Your Employment Success) and E3 (College and Training Preparation). And although we may never personally thank the individuals who helped to provide New Directions with these resources, today, we were able to express our collective gratitude through laughter, shared meals, and a realization that we don't write handwritten thank-yous often enough.

It was also worthwhile meeting Chad Gardner , development director at NDCC as he shared personally about how much our donors, sponsors, board members, and guest presenters do actually appreciate our gratitude. His passion is evident, and he helped me realize that donor support extends far beyond financial contributions. It represents a profound belief in the power of human potential and a commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive society. It allows New Directions Career Center to provide critical resources and services that empower individuals to break free from the cycle of poverty and achieve their full potential.

Earlier in the day I attended one of the amazing NDCC Wednesday Workshops via zoom so I was overwhelmed with gratitude to meet some of the women from the other programs off the screen in person. During the workshop Ayanna announced that registration is now open for next year’s YES program! This career development course, designed by women for women, equips individuals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Through Donor generosity, programs like YES help individuals gain confidence, secure meaningful employment, and build fulfilling lives for themselves and their families. Their support is helping to create a lasting positive impact that resonates throughout our community. According to NDCC Employment consultant, one organization alone has hired 5 of New Directions graduates just this past year. So I guess if you’re looking for a talented pool of candidates recruiters now you know where to go!
