Beyond The Internship: Juanito's Journey

This semester, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at CashmanKatz. My position as a PR and Social Media Intern marked my first-ever internship, making it an exciting experience in my professional journey. As this was my introduction to the industry, I had many questions before starting: Would I enjoy the work I was about to embark on? What would I learn from this experience?

Thankfully, under the leadership and guidance of the team at CK, my questions were quickly answered. My time at CK confirmed that agency life and public relations were career paths I was passionate about pursuing. Working on various projects and campaigns allowed me to learn and refine my skills in public relations and social media management.

On the public relations team, I had the opportunity to write press releases and contribute to the overall PR strategy. For the social media team, I created social media calendars for various campaigns and conducted market research for clients. This experience taught me the importance of strategically planning posts and copy as well as the art of designing visually engaging media.

Aside from the work itself, the people at CK made this experience truly special. My supervising trio of Julie, Christina, and Gianna were some of the most welcoming and supportive professionals I had the pleasure of working with. Their presence and wisdom consistently empowered me to excel in any task I faced.

I was deeply grateful for my time at CK and the connections I made along the way. This experience was integral in helping me understand agency life and explore the opportunities the communication and marketing world has to offer.
