Beyond Innovation: Human Connections at IBC 2024

IBC isn’t just a key event in the world of media and technology, it’s where human connections truly come to life! ?? Every year, Amsterdam becomes the meeting point for thousands of professionals who come together not only to share innovations but also to exchange experiences and moments that strengthen our community.

From the moment our team arrives in this beautiful city, there’s an energy that reminds us why we love what we do. This year is even more special for us as two amazing members of our team, Micaela Hornblas and Madeleine Koche , experienced IBC - International Broadcasting Convention for the very first time, and we couldn’t be prouder! ????

The days at IBC are packed with meetings, but for us, the connections go far beyond that. Reconnecting with industry friends like Scott Kellicker , Aaron Behman , Nicolas Weil , Tamar Shoham , Jason Thibeault , and our incredible Mate Talk panelists; Alex Zambelli , Barry Owen , and Olga Kornienko fills us with joy. We also can’t forget to mention the recognition of our friend Olga, who won the Bitmovin DEIB Ally Award. ???????? Such a proud moment! These moments remind us that the true value lies in the relationships we’ve built over the years. ????

The power of shared innovation ??

This year has been exceptional when it comes to innovation! In collaboration with Broadpeak, we presented FastTrackLive , our new solution for FAST and Virtual Channel scheduling, which sparked great interest among attendees.

On top of that, our teams participated in seven demos across the event, each showcasing solutions that streamline and optimize various operations. ???????

We’re incredibly proud to see how our work has been received with such enthusiasm, and the positive feedback we’ve gotten motivates us to continue striving for even greater achievements. ????

And as many of you already know, the best networking happens after hours and at events! ??We took part in the Bitmovin partner event, the CDN Alliance party organized by Mark de Jong , the SVTA & Dash IF Networking Reception, the Axinom Party by Mike 'Max' Petro , and the Official Drinks Accelerator Program. We also joined several happy hours, including those hosted by Zixi , Mux , Bitmovin & 爱迪德 , and Comcast Technology Solutions , along with many dinners and special moments shared with our colleagues and friends. ??????

This year, rather than a big trend, we observed several interconnected themes shaping the industry. The focus has shifted to ensuring investments yield clear ROI, moving away from "first mover advantage" strategies. R&D efforts are now centered on business optimization. Monetization and ad tech continue to be hot topics, with SGAI (Server-Side Generated Ads Insertion) emerging as a scalable alternative to SSAI (Server-Side Ads Insertion).

Hybrid infrastructure is becoming more important as companies move away from 100% cloud-based, with an increasing emphasis on reducing cloud costs. Edge computing solutions are also advancing, offering much lower computing costs, while hybrid cloud-on-prem models are emerging as a flexible approach to meet shifting business needs.

In terms of innovation, Synamedia ’s new product, Senza , was the standout for us! Introduced to us by Tzvi Gerstl , Senza represents a dramatic shift in the business model, blending cutting-edge technology that could transform how operators invest in Set Top Boxes and dongles. This was one of the most impressive innovations we encountered at IBC 2024, and it shows how the industry continues to evolve rapidly.

At the end of these intense days, all that’s left is to deeply thank our clients for their trust, and our friends and colleagues for making IBC 2024 an unforgettable experience. ?? This has been an event full of energy, learning, and, most importantly, opportunities that open new doors for the future.
