Beyond the Hype: Real-World Application of ChatGPT-4 with my BYD Seal Assistant

When you have some free time at your hands, you have got some new tech toy (an EV), you are diving deep into some smart development stuff (Generative AI!) what do you do? You create an app! Here it is, my little chatGPT4 app 'BYD Seal Assistant'

So, what's a ChatGPT App?

A

• customised (per your instructions),
• pre-trained (with your content)
• ChatGPT (baby),
• trained by the mother GPT i.e. ChatGPT(4)

and what's BYD Seal?

The latest addition to the Australian EV market, the BYD Seal EV. A great car that offers good value ($50K and 480km range in this beauty! + generous tax benefits (NVL) thanks to our kind Gov. ).

And no, I am not going to compare with a Tesla (so my Tesla owner friends can rest easy :D).

The EV time has finally come!

So I finally pulled the trigger (thanks to my girls!) and we bought our first EV.

The challenge

When it came to learning the car functions, it was some fun as well some challenges due to car coming with no paper manuals and limited knowledge available on the web.

Using generic ChatGPT (3.5 or 4) was definitely there, however

• often you would get some quick generic info (vs the custom app providing info from the car manuals directly)
• You have to describe your problem (vs in ChatGPT4 you just upload a pic and it understands the issue)
• + a lot more customisations while training the gpt app

Let's solve it with a custom GPT App

So I decided to create a chatGPT app 'BYD Seal Assistant'. I have been using it for some time and it is a very interesting use case that I would love to share here.

So, I created this GPT, gave instructions, generated the conversations starter prompts and loaded with the 4 car manuals (pdf files).

This BYD Seal Assistant GPT show cases a leap forward in how we integrate artificial intelligence into daily use cases. As both a developer and a user of this tool, I have experienced first-hand Gen AI's transformative potential.
