Beyond the Great Stall - 10 Secrets to a Great Cloud Transformation

Beyond the Great Stall - 10 Secrets to a Great Cloud Transformation

Here is my talk from AWS re:invent 2015

You've successfully completed proofs-of-concept using the cloud. You've staffed a cross-functional cloud tiger team to define standards. You've communicated broadly and won executive support. Why is your cloud transformation program stalling? If this sounds familiar, know that you're not alone. Many organizations experience program delays, with some delays lasting 12 months or longer. We spoke with leaders, project consultants, and engineers from mature organizations that have successfully accelerated through program delays. In this session, we discuss what we learned about why cloud transformation programs stall even when you do everything right and share nine best practices for avoiding or breaking through a delay.

Time and again, I go back to this presentation, refer people to this invaluable session. so much great advice condensed into one session. Still relevant - very much so. actually I'm here because I was looking for the session to share with a friend who is about to leave the safety of the enterprise and start his own. Thank you.

Excellent presentation. Eric's insight toward cloud transformation is spot on! Managing cloud adoption and executing a Cloud roadmap can be daunting. With the right team and a focus, organizations can effectively transition to the cloud and get a strong ROI.

Definitely my favourite session from re:invent. Some excellent info in there! Top Stuff!

Very good talk Eric and I love the example of the chasm and different modes of leadership required to realize the value of transforming over time. It's especially true because the change in this case is so foundational that it requires change management and leadership on so many levels and angles over time. If IT doesn't lead this transformation their organization will find it harder and harder to compete with new digital business models, processes and customer expectations over time.
