Beyond Goodbye: My Boss Who Fueled My Entrepreneurial Journey
This is Brad Silvers — the frizzy-haired, musically gifted, brilliant engineer who was my boss from 2010 to 2016. Early this year, Brad retired after an impactful tenure as Head of Engine Controls at EMD (Electro-Motive Diesel) , a 卡特彼勒 Company. Never heard of EMD? If you've ever seen a big locomotive hauling 100 rail cars, that's them!
I exited EMD in 2016, and we all know the “I am leaving” conversation can go many ways. Here’s how it went for me...
And those were the very contacts that helped me launch my first Edge-to-Cloud IoT Platform in 2016. It was 16-hour grueling workdays as I picked up the skills to build the product and the company, and it wasn’t until two years later when I saw the first paycheck on exit. I probably shed a tear. It was a big moment to have delivered what I had promised to my customers.
A lot of what I do today at TrackMyShuttle directly descends from the path he helped me carve.
Brad—All he cared about was for me to GROW! Not in words but in ACTION! Universe, now you KNOW!
Now that I lead a team, there are a few core principles I observed from him that I try to follow. And I hope to be as devoted to my team as he was to me.
Thank you, Brad!
