I've been sitting with this and it's been been bugging me for a while now.
It's these questions that come up when it comes to pricing...and somehow my Latinidad is subtly tied in.
Not directly, of course. It's always between the lines.
The reality
I've gotten to a point where I'm no longer allowing other people's expectations determine what I'm worth. Being Mexicana doesn't mean I have to be the cheap option.
That's not me. And I'm guessing it's not you either.
We're regal. We're talented. We're educated.
Nobody's saying it out loud but...
These momentos tell a bigger story — where being Latina somehow means being worth less.
And it's not just us.
The whole BIPOC comunidad gets hit with this expectation to keep our prices low, our servicios "affordable."
It messes with everything — how we show up, who we work with, and how we see ourselves in the mirror each morning.
Y si, I'm still working through this "worth" conversación myself...
Let's talk about what they're not seeing
People are sleeping on how valuable cultural understanding actually is.
I mean, just look at today's demographics!
As a Latina copywriter, I'm bringing heat to the table:
I'm connecting brands with the fastest-growing demographic in the U.S. (everyone can speak money)
Still think this is basic package material?
I'm thinking premium...
These mind tricks start in your head
Nobody's going to respect your rates until you do.
Hard pill to swallow, I know.
??Here's how you can start:
→ ?????? ???????? ???????????? - All those late nights, all those courses, all those times you nailed it for a client - that's not luck. You're an expert.
What valor do you bring? Make it known, loud and clear.
→ ???????? ?????? ?????????????? - The stats don't lie. We as women — especially mujeres of color — charge less than we should.
Every time.
Shout out to my copywriting amigas who've been real with me about money. Y'all saved me.
→ ???????? ???????? ??????'???? ???????????? ?????????????? - My copy isn't just pretty words.
These "pretty words" are the difference between "meh" and "tell me more."
It's conversion rates.
It's cash in your pocket.
It's value for the people you're serving.
Cultural Visionaries: Yes, It's Bougie
When I started Cultural Visionaries, I made a choice.
Cultural Visionaries wasn't just going to be just another service.
It's elevated, sophisticated, and gets results.
I love the word "bougie" and I'm claiming it.
Because that's exactly what you get with me.

When I get paid what I'm worth:
Pictures that match the price tag
I finally did that branding photoshoot — big gracias to Belden Carlson — and it wasn't just for cute headshots (though I think they're great, not gonna lie).
Every single image says "this chica knows her worth."
The styling, the settings, the way I'm standing with the confianza I've been hiding all my life.
??? It all tells you: excellence, value, and mi cultura all in one package. ???
How I'm handling the money talk
Look, saying my rates out loud still makes my stomach feel weird sometimes.
I'm telling you, it's a work. in. progress.
The Change Up
When I finally started to charge my true valor, the weirdest thing happened.
Instead of crickets, I got mutually fit clients.
People who actually listened to my recomendaciónes...
And then came the domino effect:
It's more than the bank account
Every time one of us charges what we're actually worth, we kick the door open wider for the next BIPOC professional.
We're creating new posibilidades that our parents couldn't even imagine.
When I refuse to be the "affordable option," I'm saying:
My culture adds value.
My Spanglish adds value.
My full name (MAYRA GóMEZ SáNCHEZ) adds value.
The hidden powers that aren't actually hidden...
Overall Vibes?
The journey is messy.
It's daily.
So, let's check in:
Listen - your worth doesn't shrink just because some person can't see it.
The clients who GET you will pay you.
Punto.
My promise to myself (and to you)
As Cultural Visionaries grows, I'm not backing down.
My rates reflect the fire I bring and the results my clients see. Period.
I'm still about collaboration.
Still honoring my cultura.
Still helping visionaries feel seen and heard.
But I'm done apologizing for my prices.
So here's to flipping the script. To charging what we're worth.
