With And Beyond Disability.

What do you see first when you see a person with a disability?

Usually, the presence of a person with a disability draws attention instantly. Often, people assume that persons with disabilities are less capable, less intelligent, or less valuable than those without disabilities.

The truth is that a disability is one aspect of a person's identity. It is not the 'Whole' person. It is useful to explore the various aspect of each person, instead of falling into the trap of looking at only one aspect.

What does it mean when one says: "I am beyond my disability"?

Firstly, "Disability" and "Ability": these two terms are not opposite of each other. Then looking at the statement again: "I am beyond my disability" represents the idea that people with disabilities are more than their disabilities. Each is an individual with specific talents, skills, and strengths. Each has hopes, dreams, and aspirations.

"I am beyond my disability" is a call to recognize and celebrate the diversity of human experience, to value and respect each person for who they are, and to be treated as whole human beings, not just as a label or a diagnosis.

"I am beyond my disability" is an affirmation that each one is capable of achieving their goals, and pursuing their passions while dealing with the challenges they may face.

For the rest of society, the statement "I am beyond my disability" is a call to action. It is a reminder that we need to break down the barriers that prevent people with disabilities from fully participating in society. We need to create more inclusive communities, workplaces, and educational environments that celebrate diversity and provide equal opportunities for all.

"I am beyond my disability" is a challenge for everyone to look beyond labels. It encourages us to embrace diversity and create a world where everyone can thrive.

Together, we can work towards a more inclusive and accessible society, where everyone can live to their full potential and where we are able to respect each other, embrace diversity and build an inclusive world.

A world where being different is okay!
